Minister A.K. Sharma: As the festive season draws near, the spirit of cleanliness, safety, and celebration fills the air. On Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., Hon’ble Minister of Urban Development, Shri A.K. Sharma, chaired a virtual meeting through live monitoring of the Dedicated Command and Control Center (DCCC). The meeting aimed to review preparations and strengthen city-level readiness ahead of major upcoming festivals — Diwali, Govardhan Puja, and Chhath Puja.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department, the Director and Secretary of the Local Bodies, members of the DCCC team, along with all Municipal Commissioners and Executive Officers from across the state.
Focus on Cleanliness and Public Safety
During the meeting, Hon’ble Minister Shri A.K. Sharma emphasized the need for a special cleanliness campaign to ensure that every city and town reflects the true essence of the festive spirit — cleanliness, light, and harmony. He directed officials to intensify cleaning operations in market areas, ensuring that garbage is collected and disposed of multiple times a day, especially in crowded zones where festive activities peak.
The minister also instructed the authorities to make all city roads pothole-free, repair non-functional streetlights, and ensure uninterrupted public convenience during the festive rush.
Measures Against Diseases and Safety During Chhath Puja
Recognizing the seasonal challenges, Shri A.K. Sharma urged municipal teams to remain vigilant against dengue and other vector-borne diseases. He highlighted the importance of fogging, sanitization, and public awareness drives to protect citizens from seasonal infections during gatherings and rituals.
For Chhath Puja, one of the most significant festivals celebrated with devotion near rivers and ponds, the minister directed all municipal officers to maintain strict cleanliness and safety measures around water bodies. He emphasized ensuring proper lighting, waste management, and barricading at ghats to provide a secure and hygienic environment for devotees.
A Step Towards a Cleaner, Safer, and Brighter Celebration
The meeting reflected the government’s proactive approach to creating a clean, safe, and joyful atmosphere for citizens during India’s most cherished festivals. Shri A.K. Sharma’s leadership underlined the importance of teamwork between local authorities and citizens in making these festivals not just moments of joy, but also symbols of civic responsibility.
